Student & Parent Agreement

This Student & Parent Agreement outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and commitments for families using MyWritingTutor’s online writing courses, AI-powered assessments, and learning tools.
Our goal is to create a safe, effective, and supportive environment for all students.

This Agreement is intended to be read alongside our:

  • Terms & Conditions
  • Privacy Policy
  • AI Disclosure & Parental Consent Policy
  • Refund & Cancellation Policy

By joining MyWritingTutor, the parent/guardian and student acknowledge and accept the terms of this Agreement.

1. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Because MyWritingTutor supports school-aged children, all accounts must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. As the account holder, you agree to:

1.1 Supervise and support your child’s use of the platform

  • Ensure your child uses the platform safely and appropriately
  • Monitor progress, submissions, and feedback
  • Assist with understanding writing tasks when needed

1.2 Provide accurate information during enrolment

  • A correct email address
  • Your child’s correct school year
  • Required consent for AI-assisted processing

1.3 Maintain account security

  • Keep login details private
  • Immediately report any unauthorised access

1.4 Guide your child toward academic honesty

  • Encourage original writing
  • Discourage copying from the internet or other sources
  • Ensure submissions are your child’s own work

2. Student Responsibilities

Students using MyWritingTutor agree to:

2.1 Try their best in all writing submissions

This includes:

  • Completing tasks honestly
  • Following instructions
  • Attempting drafts before seeking improvement

2.2 Use respectful and appropriate language

Students must not upload:

  • Offensive or inappropriate content
  • Violent, graphic, or unsafe material
  • Bullying, harassing, or discriminatory messages

2.3 Follow safe online behaviour

Students agree to:

  • Avoid sharing personal information in writing samples
  • Treat the learning platform with respect
  • Ask a parent for help if unsure about content

3. AI-Assisted Feedback & Learning Expectations

MyWritingTutor uses AI tools to generate:

  • Writing feedback
  • Rubric-based scores
  • Suggestions for improvement
  • Personalised guidance

3.1 AI is a learning tool, not a teacher

Students understand that:

  • AI feedback may not always be perfect
  • AI suggestions should be reviewed with a parent
  • Human judgment is still essential in writing

3.2 Parent consent is required

AI processing is used in accordance with our:

By using the platform, the parent/guardian confirms they consent to AI processing of writing samples.

4. Appropriate Use of the Platform

Students and parents agree not to:

  • Attempt to cheat or use AI tools to write full assignments
  • Upload harmful content or malware
  • Interfere with the platform’s technical systems
  • Share MyWritingTutor course materials outside their household
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Services

Unacceptable behaviour may result in suspension or termination of the account.

5. Learning Environment & Behaviour

To maintain a positive online learning environment, students agree to:

  • Treat MyWritingTutor staff and systems respectfully
  • Use feedback as a learning opportunity
  • Avoid negative or abusive messages in writing samples
  • Not submit blank or meaningless content solely to test AI tools

Parents agree to model positive learning attitudes and encourage constructive feedback use.

6. Academic Integrity

We promote genuine writing skills. Students and parents agree that:

  • Writing submissions must be the student’s own work
  • AI tools outside MyWritingTutor must not generate full essays
  • Submissions from other people (siblings, parents, tutors) are not allowed

We may refuse to mark or give feedback on content that violates academic integrity.

7. Technical Requirements

Parents acknowledge that access to the platform requires:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A modern browser
  • A compatible device (laptop, tablet, or desktop)

Technical issues will be supported promptly, but MyWritingTutor is not responsible for connectivity or device-related limitations.

8. Account Cancellation

Parents may cancel their membership at any time through their account settings or by contacting support.
Students will retain access until the current billing period ends.

Refunds, where applicable, follow the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Safety & Privacy

Parents and students agree to follow MyWritingTutor’s:

We take child safety seriously. Personal information is protected under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Writing submissions should not include sensitive identifying information such as:

  • Home addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • School name
  • Other identifiable details

10. Agreement Acknowledgement

By creating an account, purchasing a course or membership, or using MyWritingTutor, the parent/guardian confirms:

  • They have read and agree to this Student & Parent Agreement
  • They will supervise their child’s use of the platform
  • They consent to AI-assisted feedback as described in the AI Disclosure
  • All student submissions will follow appropriate and safe use guidelines

This Agreement supports creating a safe, respectful, and effective learning experience for all families.
