Who we are
MyWritingTutor was built by a Sydney family who saw the same problem up close: bright kids who struggled to get their ideas onto paper, and parents who wanted to help but didn’t know where to start.
The teaching content is designed by an experienced Australian primary school educator with over a decade in the classroom and direct experience as a NAPLAN writing marker. Every lesson, every rubric criterion, and every piece of feedback has been built from the ground up for Australian students — not adapted from overseas curricula or generic writing programs.
The platform itself was built to make that expertise accessible. No expensive tutoring sessions. No complicated scheduling. Just structured, effective writing support that fits around real family life.
What makes our approach different

Every lesson breaks writing down into clear, repeatable steps — the same kind of structured thinking that experienced markers look for in NAPLAN assessments. Students don’t just practise writing; they learn how to think about writing, plan it, and improve it deliberately.

Why we built My Writing Tutor
We kept seeing the same thing. Kids who were bright and articulate — who could tell you exactly what they thought — but froze the moment they had to write it down. Not because they lacked ideas, but because nobody had ever shown them a clear structure to work with.
At the same time, parents were telling us they wanted to help but felt stuck.
They didn’t understand what NAPLAN markers were actually looking for, so they couldn’t give useful feedback even when they tried.
Existing options were either expensive, hard to schedule, or built for a different curriculum entirely. We wanted something that solved all three problems at once — expert guidance, aligned to Australian standards, available whenever a family needed it.
